Feelgood Monday

Thought I’d share what’s making me feel good this Monday.

I finished knitting my first ever sock (
this sock ) for Steve – I need a rest because the tiny pointy needles I use really hurt my fingers – I’m sure Steve is thinking he won’t be getting the other one! Oh well, he will just have to keep changing feet to keep both warm for the time being.

I’ve started this vest from Patons for me in chocolate brown - the pattern is challenging me at the moment but the bigger needles are alot more comfortable.
We cleaned out the shed on Saturday so that we could accommodate a new/second hand purchase - one of these.....

and we were distracted by a couple of boxes of Steve's Mum's belongings - in one we found this!

M.J.F (Margaret Joy Fewings) gold embossed into a beautiful leather case and inside was the Kodak Six-20 "Brownie" D. What a long way we have come with camera's! This holds so much meaning for me and something I will treasure forever. I just wish it could speak, I'm sure there would be a few tales to tell.

On the weight loss front I'm 14.6kgs down and 20.4kgs to go and I'm feeling amazing - so amazing in fact I spoiled myself of Saturday and bought this dress in purple from Jacqui E...it's ok it was on sale!

The look on Gemma's face when I came out of the change rooms in this dress just made me buy it. Losing weight has to be your own decision and your mind set has to be just right, but the support of my family and friends is so very important to my success and I am one lucky lady to have that.

A couple of things I have noticed....my Enagagement and Wedding rings fit now (no eternity ring yet, but I'm working on that!), I want to exercise, I don't have that many clothes in my wardrobe that fit me anymore, I don't crave chocolate anymore (or sweet stuff), I'm eating so much better and I had a few glasses on wine on Saturday night and didn't feel guilty. How does that James Brown song go? "Whoa! I feel good, I knew that I would, now I feel good, I knew that I would" HA HA HA HA...sorry got carried away.

I'm so looking forward to the "8th Wave Rock Scrapbooking Retreat" this weekend in Hyden. Can't wait to catch up with all the lovely ladies that attend from all over the countryside. Lots of laughs and good times coming up. Oh and classes too from Lis, Gayle and myself - yes we do work while we are there ( little bit ).

New Music added to my eclectic iTunes library in readiness for the drive out to Hyden -

Warning - Some of the songs on this album are addictive!

thanks to Viv!

I have been a fan of Beth Orton for some time now ( thanks to Steve ) - Interesting Album that I think I'll need to listen to a few more times before I decide.
Well I think that's enough rabbiting on for this Monday. Might not be back for an update until after the weekend so stay safe and have a great week!

Lots of Sewing and New Additions!

I have been sewing madly the last few days catching up with Softwrap Cover/Folio orders and also working on some new ideas to add to the collection. One I can't show you until after the weekend - mainly because I need to refine it a little by making another one, but let me say that it's stylish and functional - two things I like to incorporate into my Softwrap products!

Something I can show you are these.............

Aren't they gorgeous. I have just uploaded 3 of these Wristlet Key Chains to my Etsy shop along with 2 Softwrap covers in the Black and White exactly the same as the sample I made up here. Black and white is proving to be popular. If there is any specific fabric colours you would like, then please contact me via a conversation on Etsy and I can see what I can do.
Righto I'm back to the sewing machine!

My family thinks I'm mad

I have been watching tv of an evening and feeling quite twitchy, like I should be doing something......so now I am! This.....

You can get the free pattern here and I'm using an Australian wool called Heirloom in 12 ply.
My family keeps saying, "why are you knitting in Summer?"

Here are my sneak peaks for The 8th Wave Rock Scrapbooking Retreat 27th – 29th March 2009....

and

Not long to go now ladies and all will be revealed!
Have a great week!

Softwrap Inspiration

I thought I would share with you an example I've been working on using one of my Softwraps. A Journal that prompts and inspires me to record some of my thoughts and day to day life (Just one use for my Softwrap covers.....there are plenty of others). Alot of these pages are pretty self explanatory, but if you want to know specifics then leave a comment and I will answer your question.

To the front of the album I have added a felt flower from Creative Cafe using some Therm o Web Heatnbond. This is usually used for applique work and can be purchased at a Quilting supplier or Spotlight. Over the felt flower I have sewn a decorative button also from Spotlight.

To the inside front pocket I have added a small notebook and because I have included black and white pages in my journal I have included both a white gel pen and a regular pen.

Cover - Let it be known I am in love with the Basic Grey Dark Chocolate Alpha Chip Stickers. I've used Beckham font here but they are available in other fonts too. They are the perfect size to get a lengthy title out of and just fit everything I seem to be doing lately - YUM!
I've tried to mix the page sizes up just a little and have used different shaped edges like the scalloped Bazzill here.

I have used a few different transparencies too (this one from Hambly inspired the 3rd colour for this album). BUT the best thing about this page is the Scrapworks "Exposed" Elements Vinyl Appliques - these are awesome! Lis put me onto them the other day - Thanks Lis. They were made for applying to their Acrylic albums but work just as well on transparencies......Perfect! They are available in letters, numbers, shapes and words.
Journal tag spot thingys from Elle's Studio.

I've used a larger Jenni Bowlin Journal Card here.

I thought I might like to add in a favourite family recipe here.

A favourite photo here maybe?

I purchased some 5" x 8" index cards from Officeworks the other day and they will work perfectly for a more detailed journaling page.

Another Jenni Bowlin Journal Card and a Collections chipboard branch spray painted black.
There is still plenty of room for some more pages and if it does get full I can always up-size the hinged rings to accommodate some more.
This sample will be on display at Tomorrow's Memories here in Perth, who have agreed to stock my Softwraps so if you would like to have a touch and feel you can pop into their shop. They are also available in my Etsy Shop.
Hopefully I have inspired you some!
Have a great week.
